Cattle For Beef
We occasionally have bulls and heifers that do not make it for herd sire or replacement heifer standards we require. Theses animals are sold for beef. They can generally be purchased as the whole animal, half the animal, or a quarter.

HEIFERS (Estimated for Example)
Typical live weight for a heifer 1250 pounds
Hanging weight approximately 700 pounds
If you purchase a half, half the hanging weight, 350 pounds
1/2 weight 350 x $4.00 per lb = $1,400.00 for the animal.
Processing generally averages around $1.00 per pound, 350 lbs x $1.00 = $350.00
Total price paid for the beef is $1,750.00
The purchaser pays for the processing directly to the processor.
Net packaged meat averages around 60% of the hanging weight.
The heifer in the example would net approximately 200 pounds of packaged meat: steaks, hamburger, roasts, etc. The processor does custom cuts according to their program. Purchasing a 1/4, both parties purchasing will need to agree on the cut order.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The hanging weights and net packaged meat weights vary according to each individual animals traits. There is no guarantee on the amount of packaged meat that will netted on an animal.
